SHOP SS15 Mary Katrantzou

I saw these amazing Mary Katrantzou clutches this week when put pulling for an editorial shoot and fell in love. I mean look at that detail work. They look like beautiful sea encrustations. Check out the rest of Katrantzou’s collection HERE.

Dior So Real Sunglasses

It’s cold, it’s hot, and it’s cold again … this is the daily weather pattern that I have grown accustomed to since transplanting to CA because where I am originally from, it’s just plain hot. I have learned something called layering here in Cali. The kind of layers that keep you warm and the ones that look good stripped away too. One of my favorite item or items that I invested in while being here is a collection of cashmere sweaters. Ahh I am such a sweater “fiend” – ok I feel better for admitting that. Sweaters are great pieces to have in your closet and they are even better lightweight layers when you can’t be bothered to wear a bulky leather jacket. I always grab a sweater when I have a long day of prep ahead of me before a shoot and I need to be fully unencumbered. Do make the investment in cashmere (you’ll thank me), plus you can just push up the sleeves in the summer and wear it year round. I am also a fan of dusters or longer jackets, sneakers, backpacks and I am such a sucker for the latest designer sunnies just as long as they have an element of cool to them. These “Dior So Real” glasses have everything I have ever wanted and dreamed of all wrapped up in one pair of rose gold tinted sunnies that this girl could ask for. The thing I love most about sunnies is that you can totally change your entire look, change your entire attitude just by changing  your frames. Sunglasses are the easies way to experiment with your style so go ahead and have fun with it!

Thanks for going on that tangent with me, now back to the practical layers. This outfit is totally considered workwear or werkwear for me and is ideal for those days I am out of the house from dusk till dawn. It is one of my faves with the lightweight layers and practical pieces. Remember sneakers for comfort, a backpack so you can be handsfree, lightweight layers so you can stay warm but not too hot, and a rad pair of sunnies just because. I hope this casual, practical, work-wearable ensemble inspires you. Xx B.

Spring is a time of new beginnings so I’d say it’s pretty fitting to start something new here on TFD. I want to start sharing some of my instagram outfits on the blog in-between legit outfit posts due to the fact that my work life, as a wardrobe stylist, is very unpredictable and doesn’t always allow me to plan out posts like I’d like to. The Fashion Drug has gone through many different seasons so thank you for tuning in and checking back. Xx

Black and navy with a pop of white is most definitely the color combo of the season. Nothing is more crisp, chic and on trend. Some of my clients ask me if it’s all right to mix silver and gold or black and brown and I always say, yes, absolutely because all of these “fashion rules” are meant to be broken anyways. When executed correctly some of these “rules” end up making quite the statement in the fashion world and take on a life of their own – next thing you know, that so called “rule” is now trending just like our beloved black and navy story. In conclusion, I completely endorse a navy and black situation, I’m such a fan and I can’t wait to see you rocking it!
